It is one of the bigger ski resorts in Bulgaria and it boasts a long winter which gives everyone plenty of time to take advantage of the modern well-developed ski and sports facilities. The skiing season is the longest of all the Bulgarian ski resorts, it lasts from about the 15th December - 15th May. The snow cover is normally 2 metres thick as snow falls are abundant, this makes Bansko very good when it comes to skiing conditions. Although the resort has been world famous for just 10 years it has a lot to offer to its guests. Throughout the last few years Bansko has been under a massive investment process, including a brand new resort with super luxury hotels being developed just opposite the Gondola.

The slopes offer runs for all types of skiers, from novice to expert ... experienced skiers will relish the opportunity to maximize skiing practice, due to the Alpine character of The Pirin Mountains. Meanwhile beginners slopes will make first ski lessons easy and enjoyable. Technoalpine snow cannons cover most of the slopes to maximise the ski season.
The ski pistes are located in two main ski centres - Chalin Valog and Shiligarnika. These are on the northern slopes of the Pirin Mountain about 10 kilometers above the town, and are easily accessible on the new Gondola lift which starts from Bansko. Every day skiers and snowboarders can take part in the competitions on the new piste on Shiligarnika.
People who love to snowboard can enjoy the Balkans Fun Park where it is possible to build jumps to suit your tastes and abilities. People from all over the world come here for some of the extreme sports!

The skiing season starts from mid-December and carries on until mid-April. Pamporovo offers skiing for everyone. The gentle profile of the mountain with its rounded nursery slopes make it particularly good for beginners. However there are challenges for the expert out there, such as the Giant Slalom. The most difficult slope here is called The Wall, which may offer an exciting challenge to all you thrill seekers! There is also snowboarding and off-piste skiing available.
All of the ski runs are safeguarded and maintained to a high standard. The TV tower on Mount Snezhanka, starting point of many of the ski runs, has a cafe and an observation gallery giving a marvelous view of the Rhodope mountains and makes an important landmark for hikers.
